In ARC/LNR Livestock/Ruminant trial it was concluded that all animals exposed to Napier grass hay were aggressively eating the grass. Napier grass is a product that can compete with Lucerne on protein content and exceeds Lucerne and molasses meal on energy value. It performs well in combination with additional ingredients in animal feeds for intensively fed livestock and can be included at 60% to 80% on a dry matter basis in feedlot diets.
The chemical composition of Napier grass revealed its nutritional value, which showed that it can be used as potential protein and energy source while providing high digestibility levels. The Napier grass provides more than sufficient nutrients to ensure a healthy growing herd/flock/stud.
